Jim Stewart has earned a reputation for creating headshots that work.  His primary goal is to help actors get shots that instantly catch attention amidst the countless photos that cross the desks of casting directors and agents each day.

An amazing headshot really is all about the eyes.  That's where you look to connect with a person.  That is the focus.  Jim approaches headshots much like filming a close-up.   Subtlety and simplicity are the hallmarks of his headshot style.   Nothing should detract from you.  It is about you - your essence.

Jim shoots in a very relaxed atmosphere (both inside and out) using natural light almost exclusively.  He doesn't count exposures or minutes.  He does not do "assembly line" headshots and never works with more than two people a day.  Jim believes creating your headshot should be an enjoyable and creative process - a collaboration.

Please feel free to set up an appointment to meet with Jim to view his portfolios in person and discuss your individual needs.  He is also available and happy to speak with your Agent or Manager.

Retouching

What we call "retouching" is actually more like having a Custom Print made.   It is NOT a "quick touch up".  Yes, blemishes are removed, fly-away hairs eliminated, under eye circles lightened, etc.  The main artistry though deals with optimizing the contrast and color balance of the image.  Many things can be done to enhance, tone, and style the print and each photo as well as each person is unique, so great care is given to this process with the understanding that a headshot MUST look like you and NOT appear "airbrushed" or overly retouched.

Make-up & Hair

Optional.  You may want to consider using a professional Hair and Make-Up Artist - Yes, it does make a difference, especially if you're going for a more "glamour" type look or if you're just not that comfortable with make-up.  Jim works with an incredibly talented Make-up and Hair Artist and she stays for your entire session.
